Possibly allergy question. (stupid?)

I recall someone somewhere saying something about adverse reactions with shrooms and allergy medications. (I take Zyrtec) I could've confused this for SSRIs, but I think that's for another drug. I searched the FAQ and the site, and I just want to be safe and get rid of my undue paranoia for next week's festivities.

There should not be a problem with taking both drugs as long as you're not going over the recommended antihistamine dosage. There is a lot of info on dangerous drug interactions and it's easy to get confused by them. It's usually stated that when planning to trip on DXM (in cough syrup form) you should stay away from bottles that also contain antihistamines in the active ingredients list. The reason is because you probably don't want a high dosage of antihistamines while you're trying to trip on DXM. It will cause a lot of unpleasant symptoms. This isn't to say it's causing any adverse reactions, it's just messing up with the desired trip.

Taking a low dose (meaning taking enough to ease your allergies) should not interfere with a shroom trip. If you're not used to histamine antagonists, expect to feel sleepy. For more information on Cetirizine HCI (the antihistamine you're taking) go here

Concerning SSRI's, they do counteract with the hallucinogenic properties of shrooms. I can vouch for this statement; I've tried it. :crazy:
