I'm using a Radian Raptor 61 APO as the main scope, a Canon 7D that I modified to take full spectrum monochrome exposures, a QHY5iii178m & William Optics 50mm Uniguide Slidebase for autoguiding, and a Sky-watcher EQ6-R-Pro M Mount.

I also have a set of Antlia narrowband filters that I use to capture each color channel.

I just upgraded my camera to a ZWO ASI6200MM-Pro, and while I haven't yet had enough clear nights to really test it out, some of the preliminary data is impressive compared to my old DSLR.

Getting into narrowband is definitely a big step, but the picture of Orion can be closely approximated if you have a tracking mount and a DSLR. The big thing is matching your exposure times and ISO settings to minimize star trailing and maximizing signal-to-noise ratio, them getting as many exposures as you can on the same target, then getting a good set of calibration frames (darks, flats, dark flats, and biases).

After that, stacking the images and post processing can be done with free software to get you in the ballpark.
