Assuming it was taken with a digital camera, all you're saying is that you let the camera dumb down the image from color to B&W instead of using your own artistic insight to create a B&W version of the pic

Its actually sitting right beside me and the rear wheel has all the spokes blown out cuz im just that hardcore with my trickidge.

The whole bike is custom built and painted by me though and it fucking rocks if i do say so myself.

That's nonsense. It is the same as arguing that education only spoils the pure mind of a newborn child. If you want to get the best out of something, you need to work with it. That's particularly true for photographs.
Also, not a single photography you take with a digital camera is unedited. The camera applies a whole range of processing algorithms to make the picture look pretty. The only difference between that and manual editing later on is the lack of control in the former method. And the only advantage to that is that it saves you time. So instead of making it seem like some sort of dogmatic, vision-based decision, just be honest and admit you're too lazy to put any time into post-processing It's alright, I skip post processing on 99% of my photos too for exactly that reason. But if I opt for black and white, I sure as hell don't trust some Japanese engineer to predetermine how my B&W images will look.
