Haha, thanks.  The 'chinos can be labelled whatever we silly humans deem fit.  So long as they continue looking all sexy sitting in their pots, they'll have a home here.

Right you are GOT.  Here's a few more pics taken from today.  My myrtillo geo monstrose is finally showing new signs of growth at the tip so I'm happy to see what shapes it forms this growing season.  There's an L. schottii growing in the same pot.

Here are some 1-2 yr old C. Forbesii var spiralis.  They don't look like anything special right now but they look awesome when older so I may sell a few but I am definitely keeping 2-3 of them for my collection.  I wish I had bought more seeds when I found them because they don't seem to be anywhere at the moment.  There's also a lonely c. pervuianus monstrose hiding in the back from another pack I sowed a year or two ago.

I was never able to find seeds for that cactus so I gave up. According to cactus site they start to spiral at 4 inches.

So I found this interesting (to me at least) picture of a pedro stump flowering. It is possible that this was taking from an already budding cactus and has just started to open now. I have seen top cuttings flower but they were taken from very mature cacti and most were pre-budding.

Two Questions
Can a cactus that is yearly harvested flower from older growth?

Can a grafted cactus flower from the stock? Assuming the stock is large enough and was/is mature enough. Stocks may continue to pup so why not flower; that's my logic anyway.

Theoretically yes. I haven't seen one do it though. Not common anyway if it does.

In theory yeah but again I've never seen it.

These cactus can do surprising things so I would never say never. Seen examples where old cuttings that had flowered on the mother were potted up and flowered again that season. After this they didn't flower but concentrated on growth instead.

I still have wtf!?! moments growing trichos. They do some radical things.

I enjoy sitting in my greenhouse or just outside of it on the hotter days and observing the lizard family catching bugs and occasionally fighting one another over their personal bug hunting territory.

Amazing. :awepreciation:

Astrophytum has become my favorite species and I have started a bit of seeds in hope to get some interesting genetics so I can cross my own. Those are some amazing cultivators.

Same here, modern. I can't seem to get enough. I love all the cultivars that are out there.

I have seedlings about six months old and have fresh peres cuttings to graft to (finally).

PS these are all grafted onto Harrisia stock and are from Thailand (not my graft). The Thais have a good thing going on.
