I just watched "Breaking The Taboo". * 1
    #17425605 - 12/21/12 12:54 AM (11 years, 1 month ago)

It gave me the biggest 'end the drug war' boner I've ever had.

A seriously encouraging film; Likely to be more effective than any before it.

It's aim is clear, to motivate the general public to re-consider and end the war on drugs.  Not to expose corrupt police forces, governments or suggest motives or conspiracies.  It delivers the only message that matters, the only message that will get the job done...  it says bold and clear ~The war on drugs is a mistake, we know it is a mistake and we have to end it ~

A huge high five to the makers of this movie.... Formers Presidents, Law officials, some of the most respected and trusted people in our society facing us saying, this is wrong, we were wrong.

Bravo and be inspired!  This suggests a real change may be on the way.

That's the thing...  ALOT.

Morgan Freeman(who is a household name) narrates, you have former US presidents Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Juan Manuel Santos - President of Colombia, Fernando Henrique Cardoso - Pres of Brazil,  Robert DuPont FORMER DRUG TZAR, FFS!!!!  Otto Perez Molina, president of Guatemala, Richard Branson(one of the richest people on earth).. and it goes on and on.

These are people who have the publics trust.  These are people that will be heard far and wide.

People are sick of blood in the streets.  People are sick of kids (GOOD, BRIGHT KIDS) being sent to prison.  It is THE LAW, not drugs that are ruining lives, and you can only lie to yourself for so long.  The information can no longer be hidden.  The truth is power.

It has somehow come faster than any of us would have believed possible, I know.

The time is RIGHT NOW.  Stand up, Be counted.

I saw this recently too.  AMAZING documentary.  I think this one will have a big effect on people's perception of the WOD.  I just love it.  Everyone should see it.

:congrats:

I've been gutsy since in discussing these issues with family and others I assume on 'the other side'.

One on one, people do not like the war on drugs.  Everyone has a friend or family member, who have fought addictions...  or, I suspect, little dark secrets.  They don't want these people in jail.

Being hard on 'drug crime' is a great idea, until the people you love end up in jail.  That is what is happening and that is when you see minds change.

I just hope people have the guts to talk about it.

i am watching this now... i like the cause of course and signed the petition. but i think it looks very biased and isn't really going to change anyone's mind who supports the war on drugs because of some bad statistics and biases.

i hope to see something better on this...

have you "The House I Live In"? It's another amazing film about the drug war. It focuses on victims of drug addiction and how the drug war is destroying their lives here is the trailer. I meet the film makers, Dr. Gabor Mate, and the head of Drug Policy alliance after a screening and panel discussion at Bioneers last year.

that graph doesn't show a lot by simply showing the total number of prisoners in each large country. as far as i know we have 10 times or more population than every country on there, except china.

it would be better to show each country with a ratio, with prisoners on top of the total population in the country.
