Hey guys.
Found this on a stump in my backyard. The stump is normally covered in Schizophyllum commune but today I noticed something new popping up!

Hericium?
Thanks

Looks a lot like an immature/young Hericium, I agree with Bloodworm keep and eye on it and see how it changes in the next week or so. If you notice tentacle like spines starting to grow off it then its definitely a Hericium sp. Sometimes they can get huge when they mature and you normally want to harvest them before the spines begin to turn color from clear/white to brownish/rust colored. Good luck I found my first good specimen and ate it last season.

If the mature spines are mostly longer than 1 cm, it's Hericium americanum. If they are mostly 1 cm or shorter, it's H. coralloides.
