Paul (R-KY) is arguing that Obama does not have the right to unilaterally kill American citizens on US soil without a trial. What do you think? He has been speaking since 11:47am EST

Rand Paul is a douchebag. I bet he took a bunch of meth to do this filibuster so technically it's cheating. If it was a Republican president doing the same thing, a Democrat would be filibustering and Randy would probably be whining about it on his twitter as we speak.

John Brennan was confirmed as the new director of the CIA on Thursday, despite some bipartisan opposition.
Democratic Sens. Patrick Leahy (Vt.) and Jeff Merkley (Ore.) and independent Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) joined with 31 Republicans in voting against Brennan’s nomination. All have expressed concerns about the Obama Administration’s drone program.
Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), the lone Democrat who joined in Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) 13-hour talking filibuster against Brennan on Wednesday, was one of 63 senators who voted for Brennan.
Paul had suggested after having his concerns over the drone program satisfied that he might actually support Brennan, but he voted no. Thirteen Republicans wound up voting for Brennan, including five members of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Among the most notable were Sens. John McCain (Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (S.C.) and Marco Rubio (Fla.) http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/03/07/john-brennans-confirmation-how-they-voted/.
Rand Paul did get a 43-word statement from Attorney General Eric Holder: "It has come to my attention that you have now asked an additional question: 'Does the president have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil?' "The answer to that question is no."
Quote:
Both Sens. John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina also challenged members of their own party. “To my Republican colleagues, I don’t remember any of you coming down here suggesting that President Bush was going to kill anybody with a drone,” Graham said in remarks on the Senate floor.
McCain scoffed at Paul’s contention that the U.S. would have targeted actress Jane Fonda during her trip to Hanoi during the Vietnam War. “I must say that the use of Jane Fonda’s name does evoke certain memories with me, and I must say that she is not my favorite American, but I also believe that, as odious as it was, Ms. Fonda acted within her constitutional rights,” said McCain, a prisoner of war in Vietnam for 5 1/2 years. “And to somehow say that someone who disagrees with American policy and even may demonstrate against it is somehow a member of an organization which makes that individual an enemy combatant is simply false. It is simply false.”
