Sorry it's actually trap-door spider - they're not venomous/low risk to humans. That being said, the insect world is a fascinatingly brutal one.

100 million years ago, the direct ancestor of humankind was a small mouselike mammal about 2 inches long. From that period we inherited the ability to get goosebumps and a tendency to fear big spiders.

And as I watched that spider grab that mouse I got goosebumps. Squeak!
