scalpels for agar?

Ive ordered a scalpel before and it was thick. No sharpness. What size sxalpel do I need to buy to cut wedges out of my agar plate

You had a full spear scalpel as seen @ fungi.com. Id recomend a sharp blade of any size over that. It has it's uses I guess, But if I had to choose one, That wouldnt be it. I like stamets favorite.

I use #11 scalpel blades. Just as sharp as any other kind of blade and pointed at the tip for spearing agar wedges.

I like exactos. Also, dental picks work great if you use a fishhook file and sharpen the inside edge.

Sounds like the exacto knife is a winner...... Except that one time I accidently had stabbed it into my knee while working on a model boat when I was younger
