Casing layer question

If a friend of mine is using a poo/straw casing, how necessary would a 50/50+ casing layer be for the yield?

i use 50/50 verm,coco coir!!!
or you can fruit that bulk without any casing layer!!
both work very nice !!!!

I perfer to apply a casing for all the reasons you put a casing on.

IME, straw tends to dry more quickly than other substrates. A casing will help retain moisture and give you larger and more numerous flushes. My friend's personal fave is coir/verm/oyster shell.
