My pod is running with perlite right now. It's been active for three days. Everything still seems moist and humid. Perlite being thinner and more mucky, it tends to interfere with the functionality of the bubble wands.

I seem to be having success. Fruits are coming along.

I did that and that's true.... But you don't have to use them... Just fan your terraium 3-4 times a day and mist it. Perlite will do fine then....

Works just fine. You can also use two small airstones in glasses of water + H2O2, one on each side of the terrarium (if you got a dual-line air pump.) This works great, though you may need to mist once or twice a day.

But doing that defeats one of the major advantages of the poor mans pod - the fact that it's for the most part a sealed system. Using the geolite it seems that you only have to take the lid off once every 2 weeks, and that's only to add water. Hence contams have far less opportunity to get in! I've not got mine going yet, but that aspect of the PMP is to me the main attraction.

As the moldmaster says - Wham, Bam, take THAT contam!

Perlite works with a little more work, geolite or hydroton are way better.

This is just a test run with a few cakes. Can't find geolite locally. Have to resort to mail ordering :frown:

Thanks
