Sad but true. Legislation in OH has recently passed the following:

Sec. 2925.071. (A) No person shall knowingly prepare for shipment, ship, transport, deliver, prepare for distribution, or distribute spores or mycelium capable of producing mushrooms that contain psilocybin or psilocin when the person intends to sell or resell the spores or mycelium or when the person knows or has reasonable cause to believe that another person intends to sell or resell the spores or mycelium.
The kicker here is the term "resonable cause". In other words, if LEO thinks you're selling to a grower, its "reasonable cause"
Sec. 2925.111. (A) No person shall knowingly obtain, possess, or use spores or mycelium capable of producing mushrooms that contain psilocybin or psilocin.
(B) It is an affirmative defense to a charge under this section that the obtaining, possessing, or using of spores or mycelium capable of producing mushrooms that contain psilocybin or psilocin is for bona fide research, instruction, or analysis if the possession or use is not a violation of federal law.
(C) Whoever violates this section is guilty of possession of spores, a felony of the fifth degree.

Yeah its really sad, up in Canada pot is basically decriminalized, in the UK you can grow mushrooms legally as long as you don't dry them.
The US keeps moving backwards, very very sad indeed

it is are responsibility to keep spores and shrooms as quiet as possible. If you think your going to get nailed get rid of the shit no matter how much it means to you. once its starts being a problem in states and schools the gov will make everything illegal. this is a wonderful loop hole that we have here so respect it. and if you think something is going to happen with the law and shit it is your responsibility to yourself and the rest of the mushroom community to rid yourself of illegal activites.:)have a nice day and that sucks for all you people in ohio.

Let us please remember that some people get pot seeds into the COUNTRY. Let alone shipping microscopic spores to eachother within the states. They'll never stomp us out

This is an interesting writing of the established spore laws. I might not be reading the whole bill, but this one seems a lot more "holey" than the others from CA and GA. For one thing it does not make it a crime to ship into the state, only to prepare for shipment from within the state (unless I'm reading it wrong). This was undoubtedly targeted at Shane from STP, whom we all know was based out of OH.
In addition:

This differs from CA and GA in that it doesn't specify that "permission" has to be obtained from some sort of state regulatory body to establish the "research value" for possessing the spores. It mearly states that "if the possession or use is not a violation of federal law." Since we all sell spores for microscopy use only, and the microscopic examination of spores is not contrary to federal law, whouldn't it stand to reason that spore possession would still be legal as long as your intent was not to cultivate?
The only drawback I can see here is that you have to "establish a defense" rather than get clearance on the front end. This would mean a prosecutable case and still a trial, but the bill does establish a defense in writing. I guess you would be screwed and liable for the fealony of 5th degree if you possessed spores and were cultivating them, as this would violate federal law and disregard the "research" defense unless you also obtain a schedule 1 permit.
Am I completely wrong in my interpretation?

I've been getting the vibe recently that they will be illegal probably in most the country pretty soon. That kid attacking the cops and getting killed doesnt help either.
They chose one hell of aan opponent though, spores & mycelial networks can hold thier own without money or weapons :]
