Emulators: Time Machines Into Your Childhood
    #17893438 - 03/02/13 07:54 PM (8 years, 10 months ago)

Anyone else play emulators? I have been playing a crazy amount of Rush 2: Extreme Racing USA for N64 on my PC with an Xbox controller. It's fucking rad.  You can just download the ROMS (games) from Freeroms and the systems from Emulator Zone.. Really cool if you grew up being a gamer, it's crazy to see what you were actually playing as a kid.. There is some funny ass crazy shit that you probably missed in some of the games growing up.. A good example may be Conker's Bad Fur Day..

No but it seems like not many people know about them, just trying to spread awareness. They aren't exactly advertised or anything, I think your average person doesn't realize how easy it is to get them running and set up.

I was trying to play paper mario. And it sucked, glitches out like 90% of the time :/. Emulators are cool, when they work.

I wish there was a Playstation emulator. But basically anyone who's computer/internet savvy knows about emulators. They are awesome! But are best when you have a USB controller that matches whatever emulator you are using :awesomenod:

There IS a Playstaton emulator. It's called PSX. In the advanced options there are also enhancing tools to make it render your favorite old games better.. Makes a huge difference. I haven't touched my Playstation emulator for a while, but last time I played it I was playing Gex 1-3, Crash Bandicoot, Twisted Metal 1-4, Ray Man.. Etc.

pSX and ePSXe can both play PS game discs from your PC's disk drive. Might require a bit of plugin finagling, but it's definitely supported.

I didn't even know that. Too bad I don't have any of the discs anymore hah.

If you wanna fill me in on your setup (emulator, plugin + configuration, disk drive model, game discs, etc) I can try to help as well. I've got years of experience with plenty of different emulators on just about every console and OS, and I'm only slightly baked right now
