Need help identifying..
    #1788125 - 08/07/03 01:21 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

Hi everyone.. i just registered kinda new to all this stuff.. i read the first 2 threads so i'll try my best...

Ok my dad purchased alot of soil for my mom to grow flowers on and all that crap...well its been rainin about 3 days here in New Jersey.. after all that rainin i came out and found 4 different type of mushrooms.. i dont know if they are active or not.. any help would be appreciated.. First i found these white mushroosm growin on the soil itself.. they are pretty big , head is about 2 inches, stem is abput size of a pinky or little smaller... second once i found next to the soil by the grass in random spots.. they looked skinny small head size of a dime or a nickle.. third kind of mushrooms that i found was growing on woodchips.. about 7-8 of them on woodchips.. they are brown.. brown head about 1 inch maybe 1 1/2 diamter, .. those concern me because they grew on the woodchip  hehe.. well and this one 4th one i found was alone.. growin also on some type of log.. its really weird.. small, but had a purple color on the stem.. kind white grey head.. and that one was byitself alone.. i found all these on my new soil that my dad purchased from somewhere.. im pretty sure its mixed with cowshit or horse shit because lots of flies fly around the soil all the time... iam takin a spore print of the brown mushroom right now... when i get my digital camera back i will take pictures of these findings i found.... i live in New Jersey, Bergen County.. it was rainin 3 days than i found these mushrooms growing everywhere on my new soil.... .. any help would be appreciated.. i will post pictures and the spore print result when iam done:)..

Cool cool man, post some more info on that one growin off of the log that had a purplish color on the stem and take a spore print of that one,its probably your best bet active wise anyways, and possibly those brown ones too,but take spore prints before you do anything else man and im sure someone from this forum like Toxicman or GumbyDude will be able to ID it for ya,Peace!

this is required reading.

this will help too.

You are on the right track and i can see that you have tried, but the information you have given is not enough to do anything with.

You will need to post a complete description of each different type of mushroom you want IDd. picutures will help aswell.

those pics are hosted on a passord protected FTP account.
try uploading them here.

here is the link.

when you've uploaded the picture, cut the entire section of code from the text box and paste it into the post.

OK, i'll start with your last post:

first off, you should always take prints on blank paper when printing for identification. if the prints are dark use white paper, if they are light, use black paper.

pics 3-4: i'm not sure. i'm sure someone else will have ideas.

pics 5-12: these scream Conocybe, problbly C. lactea or one of the similar species.

pics 13-14: [the clustered white ones] i'll have to get back to you on those.

pics 15-16: these look to be Galerinas [G. autumalis?]. Some galerinas are deadly, especialy G. autumalis wich i suspect these to be. i can't see in the blurry pictures, did these have an anulus [a ring around the stem near the top]?

i'll come back to the rest in a little while.
