> I've seen dry ice used to dry buds. The process involves putting the stash and some dry ice in a container, in the freezer. The carbon dioxide is very dry and wicks out all of the moisture, leaving the bud in its fresh form.

I do not see how this would work unless the pressure is lowered allowing the water to boil off at a lower temperature. The water vapor would then condense and freeze on the dry ice. -shrug-

"Someone has said that they have seen mushrooms preserved using dry ice. Instead of being shriveled up and small, they appeared to be their original size when fresh."

I think that's freeze drying. which is costly and well beyond the reach of most people.

It's actually possible at home, but you need a vacuum pump to do it in any case...

The way I remember it is that the water doesn't boil. It freezes inside the shroom or bud, and because of the low pressure it slowly sublimates into a gas. (sumblimate is phase change to gas without becoming liquid)
So you need to keep pumping away gas if I'm not mistaken.

Seems like a lot of trouble and expense when a cheap fan for 24 hours and $2 worth of DampRid from Home Depot will make them cracker dry in a few days.  But what do I know...

Yep.

This is actually the same reason that you can dry laundry on a line outside in sub-freezing weather -- it just takes longer.

Ive seen these shrooms before. They had perfect straight stems, and looked like they did fresh. I never figured out how he dryed them. How much does a system to dry shrooms like this cost? Anyone knoe how to build one?
