Anyone used ciprofloxacin in mycology?

So I had some old prints of various things and after not being in the hobby for several years I wanted to try and get a few cultures going.
I'm not chasing anything high-yield for these edibles, just playing around until I acquire some good culture strains again from people.
I tried a few syringes and everything contaminated with bacteria.
Slightly salty solution yielded the same results.
'control' dishes sat 4 weeks without contamination issues so im confident in the technique etc, the source is definitely the inoculant (ie the prints).
I tried a small amount of ciprofloxacin (post sterilization), hydrated the spores several days in solution and inoculated several petris. A few days later no bacterial growth this time and its the waiting game to see if any viable the spores were not killed as well...
Has anyone else had experience with this antibiotic?
I picked it up overseas and I'm not familiar it. I used it simply because I had some and it seems to work ok against bacteria but im not sure of the effects on fungal spores.

I'm not aware of antibiotics having much negative effect on spores. However, most of us use gentamicin sulfate which can be autoclaved. RR

Also, antibiotics act against bacteria and will have little or no effect on competing fungal species such as Trichoderma.

Try using spores on an inoculation loop rather than from a syringe. The water will spread out contaminants so they'll appear everywhere; with an inoculation loop contamination may be more uneven so mycelium can outcompete the bacteria in some areas.

ooo that's a good strategy the more think about it!
I used to do exactly that but as these spores were so old I wanted to hydrate several days first... Not to mention the disbandment of my culture library a few years ago so they have been stored at room temp (which in north Aus is HOT)
I think i might try a combination next time and make a very soft agar then use my loop.
I hope with a soft agar / maybe few drops of water on the plates I can get some germination without such a heavy bacterial load on every spore.
I guess if I was going to be doing lots of domestication etc with dirty prints I would just try obtain some gentamicin sulfate and go the antibiotic agar path...
Well its done now so I will post success/failures in a few weeks just in case others have the same question
But after over a week still no bacteria on the plates inoculated with antibiotic solution...
