Yeah psychiatrists don't know shit, the 8 years of post secondary education, medical doctorate and years of specialization mean nothing.

Any decent psychiatrist will admit that he doesn't know what he's doing.

You don't even have to be a psychiatrist to see that a ton of people on here have some problems. I'm only in the second semester of college (psych major) and I see red flags everywhere.

One red flag i have noticed is that most psych majors seem to have grandiose illusions in the fact they think they know everything about everyones mental state.

When I was in the second semester of my psych degree I realized there was more wrong with psychology than with people.

Sometimes there are very distinct mental illnesses - more than nebulous personality or affective disorders. If OP were schizophrenic or bipolar, a shrink would likely be able to treat it effectively.

Psych degrees. Never actually used it. Went straight into graphic design — the use of Arial Black in my latest work probably gave my profession away.

Schizophrenia doesn't take a rocket scientist to diagnose, and most people respond to treatment — in the sense that they are stabilized.

schizo's just have the doors of perception open far to wide. What they are experiencing is real, it is just beyond the scope of common understanding. A science would need to evolve under the schizophrenic paradigm (a world where everyone was a schizo) to understand the issues associated with schizophrenia. Right now we are studying a disease that is outside the understanding of our consciousness, so it's no wonder we aren't solving it successfully.

Honestly, the craziest people I know are psychiatrists/psychologists. I'm not kidding about this--many went into the profession while trying to figure out what their own problems were. I think a community approach to guiding people through issues is the only practical approach for a place like the shroomery.

Wrong. No. There's a wide range of schizos--but in all cases, there is an organic/chemical abnormality in their brains--they do not know a truth beyond our understanding--they have lost the ability to make proper associations. I've witnessed it first hand--they are confused, scared, and held hostage by their own minds. It's a terrifying condition for those who suffer from it, and those near them.

One of the distinguishing features of schizophrenia is, unlike other disorders, the hallucinations and delusions are not perceptual distortions, they are endogenous fabrications.

I just realized that the pattern is not moving anywhere near as much as it was last night when I was fairly sleep deprived.

Figured out what it is that makes it seem to move like that - nystagmus — a common side effect of sleep deprivation, as well as stimulants and many other drugs.
