In my psychology studies I actually want to look into the medicinal affects of hallucinogens, mainly LSD and Psilo. to see if it has any benefits.

In unsupervised situations, anyone with mental disorder should be very careful, though, as a hallucinogen can serve to exacerbate existing conditions.

Also, http://www.hppdonline.com/forum/: bear in mind the Shroomery is home to many, many people who have used psychedelics to no harm but this means that you're asking a biased population for answers.  There are plenty of failed seekers out there too.

That having been said, I was a fat, socially awkward, chronically depressed walking [though only barely, I stayed inside whenever I could] ego-defense mechanism before I first tripped, and now I'm fit, ambitious, adventurous, hard-working, but also bipolar.

Psychedelics will likely change you if you are mentally unstable, but no one can tell you whether those changes will ultimately be positive or negative.

I attribute my changes being positive to my relentless introspection and intelligent self-awareness, but by no means assume that you'll turn out the same way even if this describes you as well.

Intresting. What do you mean by "intelligent" self-awareness?

I think it dose describe me though, im allways every introspective certianly.  Surley this increases the chances of a trip being beneficial at least?

Fresh is 10 times as heavy as dry, but more potent in relative amounts.  i.e. 20g wet is more potent than 2g dry, although they could be from the same batch or even the same mushrooms.

ok, so fresh is just a bit more potent then dry?

in that case it may just become a seasonal thing for me, these mushies are close by so i can pick when i need/want at the time.

what about the taste? lol

I like fresh better, but many people disagree.  It depends, I guess.  People complain that they have to eat more when they're fresh, but I think it's much easier and more pleasant since they're the consistency of real mushrooms instead of mush-jerky.  Who cares if you're eating water-weight?  I dunno.  You can figure out what you like best on your own.

eating just the mushies, I strongly prefer fresh. Doesn't taste much worse than a regular button mushroom or something. Overall, I prefer dry though as you can do more things, more easily, with them. My favorite is to grind them up and make little chocolates. You don't need much chocolate, just enough to cover the shrooms completely and it completely masks the taste and I suspect it helps fight nausea somehow too. Someone suggested there's a chemical (I forget the name) in chocolate that might help. Also tea is a great method of ingestion. That's my fallback if I'm too lazy to make chocolates.

just wondering since you seem a bit new around here, assuming you are going to pick wild mushrooms, what steps have you taken to make sure they are the right kind?

the mushroom hunting section would be the place to post your pics and info. you should NEVER eat a mushroom that hasn't been identified by a mushroom expert. it could lead to sickness or death. PM me or ask here if you need any help getting pictures posted when/if you decide to go pick.
