Sufism resources?

Can anyone recommend me some good introductory reading on Sufism? Audio and video documentaries are very welcome too.
It's a subject that is often alluded to, but never really explained in depth in most of the books I've read, and something I would like to be more knowledgeable about.
Thanks in advance.

Odd that there is so little factual information.
What I found so far was this video on google, but it goes little beyond "Ooooh isn't Rumi great?"
And this guy speaking about the sufi concept of reality. He is difficult to understand, but he is the best dresser on youtube. That turban is awesome.

Thanks man. That's a great start. This one is nice. Don't be fooled by the rather bland introduction about mutual understanding of the faiths. It get good around 3:30.

i am largely at the level of "oooh isn't rumi great" but though I totally love RUMI poetry, I interpret in my own way, and have low interest in formal trappings of sufi-ism or any other religion.

Nothing wrong with that. He probably was very great. I know too little of his work to have an opinion. While I'm not planning on joining them anytime soon, I am very interested in the trappings, mostly from a standpoint of comparing different mystical traditions. Seeing how the same concepts are rendered in different systems.
I may have to read that book.

I dont know who said it, but I remember it's an old Sufi mystic quote "Quit this life, quit the next life, quit quitting"

I enjoy Sufism, as although it is a tradition based in a culture, its best teachings and praxis teach you how to think and not what to think, like most western schools of thought, undermining and exposing the ambiguity of culture and praxis in and of itself, yet encouraging the thinker to be conscious and respectful of other peoples way of being human. Most people I know who understand these things actually lack this kind of mindful courtesy.
Idries Shah is one of my favorites. I'd highly recommend looking into his work. This little video is based on a excerpt of his.
