Fallout said: Swim has always had luck with "cheating" the system that another has provided. So the idea here with liquid culture is simple. I see no reason for it not working other than unsterile practice.
He will be getting a NEW unopened small bottle of purified water. Also a NEW unopened bottle of Karo syrup. Then he will simply, under sterile conditions and proper gear, open the water bottle and pour a small amount out (with the water being @ room temp) and immediately squirt a small amount of the Karo syrup into the bottle and cap it. Let it sit for a day and shake it up every few hours and let it blend. Then under the same sterile conditions, the next day puncture a small hole for the spore solution to be Injected, once done have a precut piece of medical tape applied to that hole. Then simply wait until signs of growth, both these products should be sterile in their original unopened condition. He believes if you work fast enough, and leave enough room in the bottle for air exchange, you will have success! Pressure cooking only sterilizes the LC it's not like it activates it for spore germination. So in the end this is just a process to eliminate pressure cooking, within the next week or so he should be able to perform this experiment and reveal its uncostly and almost non existent time consuming efforts.... P.S. this WILL work.....
Bought Kero last week for this exact same idea. It would be even easier if you had an automatic stirrer. Have you thought about your proportions and how long you're going to wait for your LC to stir before adding spores?

It should blend without too much trouble. I have a very good gut feelin on this one. It can really save time in many ways.

I wouldn't trust this mythical bottle of sterile water if I were you.
Of course I hope it works for you but there's always a reason things are done a certain way. Time saved which becomes a failed experiment becomes time wasted. Aside from the learning of course. You'll find a large difference between "hey I think this could be sterile" & "I'm positive that this is sterile because I've taken steps to ensure this"
1 mold spore & you are taking a ride to green city.

The thing about LC, as I'm sure you're aware, is that you can't visually see contamination. Sterlizing the mix in a sealed jar has many advantages. Even with sterile water, all this handling is bad. M'kay When you think about it, taking more chances and adding more fail probabilities into the procedure is a form of "less advanced" mycology. I've had my share of positive intent and good faith shattered by the green bitch.

I've said it before, and I agree with Oeric. New or inexperienced cultivators should avoid LC's like the plague. Agar is user friendly and you can visually see contams and virtually eliminate them. MS is always the best option for new cultivators though.
