To those who faint on mushrooms: Has there ever been anything that you've taken to decrease the chances of fainting?
There's a feeling I get when I'm about to pass out that I call the "feeling of doom." Suddenly, out of nowhere, it's like someone hits a switch in my brain that says "you're now going to lose control of all bodily functions and pass out." This always happens on a dose of a cut or higher.
I want to solve this problem for myself, and help others who have this problem as well. I'm down for using myself as a guinea pig if anyone has any safe theories that I could try out

what's a "cut"? i have had moments of having a "brain zap" or feeling like my "brain was struck by lightning", or some sort of buzzing sensation in my brain that lasts for a split second. it's hard to explain

Sorry. I forget terminology is different in different places. 3.5 g's is what people in my area call a "cut."

The only time I fainted on mushrooms my head started swimming, my dogs started to look a little like hell hounds with wierd rigid yet somehow flowing fur, everything started spinng i got the fear and woke up with a concussion and woke to a worried mother asking me what i took. not fun. dont really know what caused it but i was on ssris at the time and had to eat like a quarter, it didnt feel stron til about an hour and a half in.

Passing out. Standing, falling to the ground, smacking your head off of shit. It's been thrown around on the forums a few times that a small but countable percent of people faint on the peak of mushroom trips. The Psychedelic Adverse Effects poll actually shows around 1% passing out frequently but I've read plenty of threads on here to think that it's a bit more common.
Edit: I clearly stated "lose all control of bodily functions and pass out" in my original post haha. Doesn't seem that vague to me

I was laying on my deck and stood up because i was starting to get anxious and fidgity. i walked around a bit, opened the sliding glass door and began to feel dizzy. Looked at my dogs who were standing by the door, two large german shepards, and they looked fery hell-houndish, which triggered a "fear", I was overwhelmed by a huge rush of dizziness and woke up on the ground, my head killing me from falling straight backwards and hitting my head on the picnic table that was on the deck. It was loud enough for my mother to hear it and she shook me awake all worried. Terrible way to come to after that. Also when I was younger I remember my father telling me that he only did mushrooms a handful of times and the he stopped because the last time when he peaked he passed right out on the sidewalk in NYC.

Yeah dude. I really want to figure out what causes it. I used to be able to take huge doses, then out of nowhere one time I took an eighth at a festival and started feeling like I was about to puke and had some incredibly uncomfortable stomach cramping out of nowhere. I started running toward the bathrooms and realized I wouldn't make it, turned around and fell on the hood of my car. I apparently started sliding off of it and would have cracked my head against a huge pile of firewood if my one friend didn't save me.
Apparently there were about 5 security guards and a huge group of people standing around watching. I thought for sure I accidentally grew a contam with the mushies and was poisoned. After growing some under extremely sterile conditions and eating them again with identical effects, I realized it wasn't the case.
And bishlap, they were homegrown cubes.

Yeah I was tripping with a girl for her first time when it happend too. not noticing how the ssris were effecting me had us both taking abuot a 1/4 each by the time i was done and she started tripping bad, i started tripping bad. was a mess. had a concussion for the rest of my trip but after i puked from being concust i was gravy for the rest of the night,save for a little bit of worrying about what my mother was gonna say in the morning. And everyone else who ate those said those were really potent at just an eighth.

panic attacks maybe?
hate to be so general but read in to them.
when i was 22 i had my first, completely sober driving home in a bad snow storm, was going 5mph for over 2 hours ended up getting bad tunnel vision that put me in a panic cold sweat and I had to fight loosing consciousness so i wouldnt die..
afterwards i honestly thought i just had a stroke for weeks only to be given a stack of papers on the subject and a 270 dollar doctor bill..

It's odd though because for me, both times it happened was out of nowhere. Actually, the first sign for me is my body being unable to regulate temperatures. My head will feel super hot while I'm shivering from being cold. Then it'll completely switch. Then it feels like there's poison bouncing around in my stomach, and then it feels like all the blood is draining from my head and I need to breathe super deep to stay conscious. I also get all-over body tingles like my circulation is completely shot.

It's not like I actually think I've consumed poison though. I was using that as a metaphor to explain how badly it hurts my stomach. The first time I thought it was a contam, but that was only after I was already incredibly lightheaded and searching for an explanation. The second time, the physical side effects came while I was feeling fucking awesome and with good people, and absolutely nothing to be panicked about. It definitely felt like the chemical had triggered some physiological switch that decreased my blood pressure and made me very sick at the same time.
All of this happens well after I'm already riding the peak out.
This also only happens on mushrooms. I've completely lost my mind on LSD and DMT countless times but have never gotten any effects like this at all.

This sounds just like a case of hypertension man.
When I wouldn't eat right or drink enough water everytime I would stand up from sitting
I would get dizzy and get tunnel vision or completely lose my vision. On same cases I blacked out and hit the ground hard as a mofo.
(this was sober btw not related to taking mushrooms)
As for the blacking out on shrooms. It happens to me on 6g+ doses sometimes, partially because I think i forget to breathe im so in awe.
But drinking water might help Ive noticed that one must really hydrate on shrooms they fuck with your bodies water content for some reason.

I'm mostly waiting for other people who experience the same thing to see this on here so we can try to figure out patterns/commonalities, or someone who understands the physiology of how mushrooms work and can perhaps give speculation as to what may cause it.
It's definitely something that effects a portion of those who indulge in mushrooms. To the best of my knowledge, this is only something that has come to light since the poll that I mentioned earlier on this forum.

Something to do with blood pressure/lack of sufficient blood flow is a definite possibility. Serotonin agonists, which tryptamines are, are known to cause vasoconstriction (a narrowing of the blood vessels for those unfamiliar with the term) and some people are definitely more prone to this than others, as has been illustrated by some people dying or requiring amputation after overdoses of Bromo-DragonFLY (a severely potent serotonin agonist that is known for excessive vasoconstriction) while others who consumed similar doses only required hospitalization for mental effects of the compound. Perhaps it has something to do with insufficient oxygenation of the brain due to vasoconstriction. Just a suggestion...

no but seriously, if its a panic induced thing maybe taking .5mg of xanax or something and upping your dose would work, or a few shots on the comeup cause that would take care of your panic but honestly man id ask my doc
maybe he can prescribe you some shit thatll help
