That would require a VERY large fan...

Sorry, I must retract my earlier statement I read the flow as being 4370 not 437. Still a large fan, but not crazy. Are you not interested in the 24 x 24 x 12? I think it's just $120 with shipping...

I can't stand the fact that this is square. It bothers me so much. Are there any rectangular ones? Also, this is 1000cfm, i can't afford a fan that large...
That's like 800$ here where I live.
Are you alsu sure this is what I need? Have you build a flowhood before?
I'll wait for RR to comment on this, however.

Sorry didn't know airflow was a problem for you, I just saw that big filter you were looking at and figured airflow wouldn't be a problem for you. I really don't want a square filter either, I just like that ones price I've been thinking about running two of them side by side. My alcoholic neighbor is an HVAC guy and uses my advice on alot of his outboard engine problems so i'm assuming I can easily bribe him for a large enough pair of fans...

If your a real bargain hunter you will find that there are blowers that move 1000cfm for cheap money on ebay.... I recently just bought a fan that delivers over 700 cfm at .09" static pressure for only $80 shipped to me. I coupled that up to a filter cost me $60 shipped (ebay) that measures 30x18 and tested at 327 cfm. All I had to do was build a nice box for it out of plywood and fix a variable speed control and presto a nice cheap flow hood! I spent less than 300 on this project, you should be able to do so as well.

Excellent man, I'm so glad you completed yours! I'm almost done colonizing and will be spawning very soon so I plan to build mine while waiting on the flush. Thanks for the ebay tip, I've been using it for my other hobbies for years and have always had good luck with it. I am actually fortunate enough to share my neighborhood with an alcoholic HVAC guy that constantly needs my help on his outboard engines. I am just assuming, but I believe he can be cheaply bribed when it comes down to fan time. I am extremely interested in that 18 x 30 you purchased, care to link me on that one? Thanks man, and post some pics of that beast!

Okay back on the pc, thanks for the post man that thing looks great! I love the dimensions of that filter, closest thing I'd found to it yet is an 18"x24"...

If you are looking for a cheap blower, go hang-out with some HVAC people. They have old blowers from units removed from service. An HVAC buddy gave me a couple blowers free and told me they have so many they regularly toss them in the trash! It will take a little scrubbing on your part, but the price is right.

That should work fine if it's not a paper filter. Make sure it's ceramic. Look for a blower that will deliver around 500 cfm to 600 cfm @ .7 to 1" W.G. RR
