I don't think we should have to lead anyone. Who made us the boss and why do you feel the need to be lead?
We're damned if we do and damned if we don't....it's easier to not give a damn.

The United States is possibly the best country that's ever existed. The Roman Empire and whatever else, wherever the Mayans lived and stuff might have been good but that was a long time ago and it would be really hard to compare them to a modern country, I think. I actually don't even think it's worth comparing them! America is obviously something other than what they were, something way better. No other country, modern or from a long time ago, can possibly compare.

Not to interrupt but, which system will not fail?
I wanna join that one.
And as to the original question: Is that rhetorical?

The system that will not fail defies definition because it is too flexible to be defined.

I agree with you 100%. I don't feel the need to lead anyone nor do i think the US should be the world's self-appointed cop.

Yes, the original question was rhetorical. I guess the cynicism was once again a bit obscure. The question and subsequent list of pros/cons was initially published in Adbusters July/August edition. For those that aren't clued in to what Adbusters is - go to the URL in the initial post. Give it a good look. If you like what you see, get a subscription. If not, oh well.
(BTW: I own no Adbusters stock (is there such a thing??) nor am i affiliated with the publication in any way).

Hmmm.... that's debatable. I guess it depends on one's definition of 'best'. If you mean 'best' as in being the biggest, most warlike, having the baddest-ass army or kicking the most ass - yes America is the undisputed best. If 'best' means cleanest, most concerned about the environment, most aware of global issues, most honest, peaceful, or fair (the list goes on)- I think not.
The original point wasn't to talk about who's really 'best' though. I simply wanted to bring forward for discussion a previously published list of qualities (or lack thereof) that make the US qualified to be the worlds policeman. Just food for thought.

I think its a common fallacy that the citizens of the U.S. have ever been well educated. There have always been a minority in power who are knowledgable, but I doubt the average person in the 1800's could find much on a map either...
Not that it isnt incredibly sad that we cant do any better 200 years later...

Thanks. I was just making conversation. I knew full well it was rhetorical.
And yes, Adbusters is pretty cool from what I've seen.
Thanks.

America is no more fit to run than Rome was fit to conquer the world (and possible run it afterwards) or even Hitler for that manner, the world exists for diversity, no one entity should be able to run a hell of lot.
