The active Conocybes bruise blue at the base of the stem and on the mycelium attached to the stem.

Even if you're sure you've found some, you shouldn't eat them. Conocybe is a very difficult genus. Identification to species requires a microscope. And there are deadly species, with the same toxins as the deadly Amanitas.

The odds are that you've found Conocybe lactea, which is not active.

Happy mushrooming!

Conocybe cyanopus is a Pacific Northwest Species found growijng along the roots of sphaghum moss along streams and riverbanks from February through May and disappear when the hot weathetr begins. I have only found themj four times in my entire Life. Twice in Tukwilla, Once along a river in a sheep pasture near I-5 corridor in Oregon and one time in north of Everette on I-5.

mj/

Dosaeg is approximatelyt 75 to 100 shrooms or more. I\t is a tiny species which whould produce about doese to a fresh ounce,

mj. DO not look or pick these Conocybes. There are deadly related species.
