tennessee cubensis pictures!!!
    #1776760 - 08/03/03 09:18 PM (20 years, 8 months ago)

it is commonly believed that cubensis does not exhist in tennesee. this idea is totally false. in the memphis area i have regularly picked cubensis for the last 3 summers. here are some pictures of tennessee cubensis growing wild on horse dung compost. sorry for the poor quality. i used a terrible disposable camera without a flash. i will post better, closer shots as soon as i can.

better pictures coming soon

Man take some prints and send them to some reputable people.

I'd love to have one, and I don't care how clean it is.

i have only picked in southwest tennessee. these cubensis were picked within a few miles of memphis. i do not not know how far north or east they range. it seems likely that they would grow even farther north along the mississippi due to the high humidity it creates. i have never picked any further from memphis than necesary.

Yes, that is very true, I live on Kentucky Lake and the humidity during th day here is always fairly high, and at night time its always near 100%,I found one cubie the other day, and I live in western Kentucky, it was barely even 2 inches tall due to the lack of right conditions for a cubie but hey atleast that proves that cubies are a very strong type of psilocybe and can adapt to a fairly large number of states here in the US, but the only bad thing is that during the winter all of the spores die because it is way too cold for them to survive here.Peaceout!
happy hunting---

You sure it was a cubensis You found amantiaman? What was it growing off of? Strange brew would you say that the further you go towards mississippi the better chances of finding cubies would be?

..........a lime, and a shot of tequila.......

Even though the pics aren't that great, they sure do resemble cubes.
The Memphis area's climate could be suitable for cubensis.
For a long time, no one believed cubies grew in N.C., but a few years ago there was a news report on TV of the cops busting shroom pickers near Wilmimgton. They showed the shrooms growing in the fields, and they were definitely nice, fat, beautiful cubensis.
Get us more pics.

I know of a spot that was abundant about 20 years ago when my buddys dad used to pick in N.C. I have not visited to see if it is still there. I would love to take a short trip to memphis to pick some. Are the farmers crazy like in florida? Are the majority of the horse farms very large? I have one nextdoor but its very small with about 10 horses. I cannot find these dung/straw/bed shaving piles. Could I simply rake out a section of a stable, make a big heap outside, and
get the same results? Thanks man, Your the only guy from tennessee finding cubes at the shroomery
