Recharging Epsom
    #1777206 - 08/04/03 12:29 AM (20 years, 7 months ago)

I was reading about using epsom salt as a cheap desiccant. I have it in the oven at 400 degrees right now. I plan on letting it bake for 45 minutes. My question is would you do the same to recharge it? Also how can you tell when it needs recharging? Thanks in advance

swim did the same with a low ammount of epsom compared to how much swim got 3lbs. worth so i have about 400ml with plenty more epsom left. you would "recharge" it by baking it again. swim has yet to find out when to bake the desicant, swim is going to when the desicant feels like it has to much moisture in it.

i know with dririte desicant, which is supposedly a scientific grade desicant, you are supposed to bake at 350? for 1 hour. Try that.

I just recently had to rebake my epsom. I just noticed that my mushies weren't getting cracker dry so I did it and now it's back to normal. Other than that I don't know how to tell.
