ID Please
    #1774166 - 08/02/03 11:48 PM (13 years, 4 months ago)

We found these in a lawn that had not been cut in a while the morning after it had rained a whole night. I'm completely new to shrooms and dont know much more about them than what you see in the pictures below:

If these pictures are not good enough for an ID I can try and get a spore print next time.

If it's not c. lactea it's some other type of conocybe. Don't eat!!!!!

Nice pictures, read the faq's for future post's. Alot of info is needed for acurate identifications....

no it is lactea.i have Tenera* in my back yard. they prefer dead woodchips and stuff like that. not very common on grass . and conocybe lactea is a very fragile and thin mushy . conocybe tenera has a thicker cap with a hollow stem and gorw in clumps. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
oh and alex420 if you want to find some good shroomies i would check co0mpost piles, horsemanure, cow manure etc. check out ranches and farms and stuff . and its best to try and get the farmers permission before you go on theyre property. you dont have to tell them exactly what youre looking for. just say youre looking for a certain species of mushroom you suspect to grow in theyre area and give them some bull shit or if you want to some scientific name of like a button mushroom or what ever .. good luck .

Yeah sorry about the lack of other information, but I didnt have the shrooms with me at the time of the post so I couldnt help much more :\
I figured the good quality pics would be enough anyway. Thanks for the help guys, I'll post more (with better descriptions) the next time I go hunting =D
