Old post I know. Given that I will be pasteurizing in quart jars, how long can I store this before using it? Can I seal it after pasteurizing? Doing the math it looks like ~8 quarts per tub, can I do it ahead of time so I don't find myself trying to do a bunch in one day.....
Thanks....

NOPE, pasteurizing only gives you a window. Pasteurize and sterilize are not the same thing. You want to use ASAP after you pasteurize.

Using only coir kind of sucks unless you are really dialed in...I'm sure it works great for Bodhi, but it is not user friendly for all IMO. Too dense, too small of particles and low porosity in comparison to CVG... Tends to get wet and stay wet.
Running uncased, and esp. uncased straight coir is also not really a beginners game either.
If you get dialed with these methods they obviously can work very well.
CVG is just so easy.

I don't really consider it difficult a lot of people just over do the adjustments thinking they're helping

This is correct. Pasteurization, and sterilization operate on the same principle, though, which is the application of two separate heat ranges to knock back invader spores to the point where healthy cultures inoculated in a timely fashion will be able to consume them before they can recover.
Since pasteurization is a much lower heat application, than sterilization, pasteurization spoils faster, than sterilization. Sterilization will eventually go sour as well. Pasteurization also keeps microbes that prey on invader spores alive. Sterilization wipes the slate clean of all living microbes.
