Cakes do better in the 95% to 100% range. Casings that use a soil mix require a range of 85%-92%. The casing layer provides the microclimate that pins need. Keep your cakes as humid as you can get them and remember to give them plenty of fresh air exchanges. Don't trip. Are you using perlite?

heh Well actwally I have my own tek of a half cake half caseing... its very good so far. I was just in a dusscussion and this is what I heard... But they stated it was also for cakes.. it was a stress for them so theyed grow better.. but the person asking was talking about cakes.. and I told them that 97 was like good for cakes... So I thought Id ask instead of keep argueeing with this person/'s :*)

when it comes to cakes, im the pro. You know where to find me. Dont worry about the humidity, keep it high. Cakes love it. I just drilled a bunch of holes in my growing chamber with casings in it and there doing alot better. Caings do require less humidity. If your using cakes, try to stay away from perlite, that shit is dirty and evil.

Perlite rules!Check out the perlite FAQ at erowid-my former self wrote the last bit about self-contained shroomariums,which make great gifts,BTW,since they are almost maintenence free.If you aren't casing,perlite is the way to go!

Ok well hehe Now see I have something from both worlds... What if I was to have a Cake/caseing... 2 of them... the top half is a cake, and the bottom it a caseing of 50/50.

I mean this is the best from both worlds. hehe and Just to say how it works.. Peters, got 12 mushies going great on one cake/caseing and ALOT more pins.. they just keep forming... Peter sure is a lucky guy.. today , Peter, Put his caseing/cakes into a new Terrium.. Its bigger.. its green sept for the plexi top. Its got perlite... but its also got a air pump. *The perlites just damp no water sitting* And Peter has been spraying it .... See Peter noticed he had mycelium on the caps and found out that was a sign of low humidity.. and his old terrium might have been why... Guess Peter Will find Out huh :*)
