If you are refering to Clostridium botulinum [causes Botulism], it is an anaerobic, gram-positive bacterium.
it forms resiliant endospores which can be present in canned foods and occasionaly survive if the sterilization process was insufficien.

the bacteria produce dangerous neurotoxins which have caused many fatalities.

the toxins are easly destroyed and break down at about 80c in a short time. this is the reason people are advised not to eat canned fod that has not been heated up.

the disease [food-bourne botulism] has become rather rare in the us and in most of the world in the last few decades [i believe the US. averages only around 30 cases per year in the last 2-3 decades].

Botulin -- which is produced by the bacteria Clostridium botulinum, as concrete says -- is the most potent natural neurotoxin known to man. It works to paralyze the muscles -- an -extremely- dilute solution of the toxin is used in the cosmetic treatment called "botox" -- it paralyzes the muscles of the face, so you don't have wrinkles.

...Fuck that shit, I'll just have wrinkles. No, don't consume this, it's deadly poison, etc, etc.

Oh, while we're on the topic of eating toxins, has anybody tasted ricin?

I have an assload of Ricinus communis seeds. Who wants to trade?

I don't trade these seeds unless the person can explain to me what they are.

Ricin and RCA are some nasty fucking chemicals. If you decide to cultivate this plant, you probably shouldn't allow it to flower/seed. There aren't many practical uses for ricin, and certainly no psychedelic uses.

I grew up with these plants. They have been growing in my parents garden where they grow a significant amount of their food.

It's also known as Mole Bean. It's supposed to keep the moles out.

Sorry, that post wasn't directed at you Baby_Hitler, it was more of a general warning for anyone considering growing this plant. RCA really isn't anything to worry about, unless you're planning on shooting up your Castor Bean seeds. Ricin, on the other hand, is active orally and only takes about 1mg to kill an adult. Do not consume the seeds.

Eight seeds are enough for a fatal dose. This is a good site pertaining to ricin. The rest of the plant contains ricin as well, but to a much lesser extent.

i hope you realize that enough ricin to be tasted is probably enough to present a life-threatening danger to the taster.
