Dont mix the strains.Only one will fruit, from my understanding.
Dont case with compost. You need vermiculite, and coco coir. Both is great, but either will do.
Do a search for casings in the FAQ. There are some really good teks in there.Good luck.

Untrue. Keep the strains separated for good results. If your flower pot is big enough to incorporate both strains, then do it. They will fruit right next to each other just fine. If one strain is stronger than the other, then it may colonize more substrate than the other. They will not fight each other in any way; they just fight for the same food and water. Once its all said and colonized, then they will live next to each other in harmony.

You can pasteurize the substrate or sterilize it. It really does not matter since it will be placed outside. As a matter of fact, you really don?t need to do either, but you should do something to kill other fungi that may be in the manure (I never processed any of my substrate for my outdoor patch and it worked fine, although I had ink caps grow also). Outdoor growing is much more forgiving than indoor, so just cooking it in a pot, oven or microwave is fine for this purpose.

Just take your colonized cakes and break them up into little pieces. Make layers or mix the spawn and the manure in a bag, then empty into the pot. Remember if you use both strains in the same pot, keep them on separate sides so less competition occurs (you don?t need a barrier or anything). You can cover with vermiculite as a casing layer, use straw, or no casing at all (plain manure). All will work, but a casing layer will help provide moisture and protect the mycelium below from drying out.

Cover with some sort of clear or opaque plastic, but leave some holes for air. Water as necessary.

So you could put both strains in the pot,and get both strains to fruit?Just keeping them seperate, like half one and half the other would work acceptably well?
