Which grain colonizes faster?

My question is this which grain (popcorn, rye, wbs, rice) colonizes the fastest under optimal conditions? I have a wbs liter jar project going and I've found that even with semi-fast colonizers it's a bit slow. So under perfect dark 82 Degree conditions, which would you say is the fastest?

IMO , there are way too many variables that can influence the rate at which a particular type of grain will colonize at what rate . To say that "this one" is fastest . No matter what remeber that the bigger the jar , and volume of grain , the longer it will take to colonize . Each fella , in each lab around the planet will have different results . ANNO's research will be helpfull either way .

Did anno shake the grain jars do you know? I think it would be fairly easy if all the jars where PC all at the same time for the same amount of time and in the same perfect invroment(same size jars, same incubator, same perfect temp ect..) then that would be a very good gauge what is the fastest substrate

i know that popcorn colonises in pint jars, at 25celcius in about 1 1/2 weeks using B+ strain...fast enough for me!

My popcorn in 1 pint jars completely colonized in about 8 days. It has been at least that long for my WBS and they are just getting started. Although, I do believe that I didn't get the water content right in the jars of WBS and they are quart jars so they are bigger also.

i've done a few test of my own using the same strain(argentina)i made 1/2 pint jars consisted of popcorn and WBS.i used the same amount of spore solution in each,my findings were the popcorn colonizes faster than the bird seed.
and another test same thing but i used golden teacher strain and the WBS colonized faster.
i figure some strains like certain grain better than other strains. If you grow the same strain in the same substrate over and over it adapts to it.i think it has to with the isolation of strains.anyone care to elaborate on this alittle i only have the basic's.
