magash's pod design is great, and will get the maximum potential yield from your cakes. but the maximum potential yield of that same mycelium volume is greater with an ideally-provided casing.

do you agree, magash?

While I am almost positive Shirley Knott is correct one factor I would keep in mind is that as someone new to mushroom growing casings are quiet difficult to get just right. There is PH concern, patching, and a need to control RH much more finely than with cakes. Casing takes a lot of practise, and while you are working out your glitches in casing I think most new groweres should continue BRF cakes and put them in the pod. I myself am on my 4th casing attempt and have yet to beat out the yeilds of half a dozen cakes in the pod. I am getting closer each time though
