Origins of holidays
    #1765990 - 07/31/03 02:32 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

After reading this, it certainly illustrates the use of symbolism religions create to describe philosophy. In this case, the Easter/Birth of Christ holidays are used to describe the birth, death, and rebirth process similar to many other religions. If you also notice, Easter also has come to have an ?Easter Bunny? hiding eggs for kids to find. Eggs might be symbolic for the in vitro state of conception, as others have suggested.

I personally believe that many stories and myths were created to help relate a moral, rather than the current accepted idea that these events happened exactly as written. Since these ideas are passed down as truth, and only priests and other "wise" men can interpret them, they have become used as control device, and have lost their original meaning.

The very nature of experience is ineffable; it transcends cognitive thought and intellectualized analysis. To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.

Easter has Pagan roots. Christians just altered it.
