A shroomery lexicon would be handy
    #1765305 - 07/31/03 09:15 AM (13 years, 4 months ago)

I live in Holland and sometimes is really difficult for me to understand some of the words you guys use for drugs, paraphernalia (like bong or bubbler) and drug use. Also amounts like 1/8th are difficult.
Are there any dictionary like sites that have this info?
Otherwise it would be really handy and nice if there were some people here who would like to take the time and make such a list.
Or maybe we could make a sticky post where the first post is the list that is edited by a mod. In the replies people can add words and meanings or ask for meanings of words.
Or am I the only one who has this problem?

You are the only one.
What you need is an English - Dutch dictionary.

Sure and the drug terms would be in that. Let's look up hippyflip in the dictionary.

bong1 ?? ?P???Pronunciation Key??(bng, b?ng)
n. A deep ringing sound, as of a bell.

bub?bler ?? ?P???Pronunciation Key??(bblr)
n. Northern U.S. A drinking fountain.

Now I know what the difference between a bong and bubbler is, thanks

what do you want to know?
i guess it is hard to do any of this because people say differnt things where ever you go. its not like terms are universal. slang is a local thing. I know around here ends means weed, stewart means beer, mush means mushrooms...there are so many things. you just have to live it and learn i guess....sorry

What's the difference between a bong, waterbong and bubbler for one.
What's the difference between a normal lighter and a butane lighter? They both work on gas right?

i would guess that a bong and a waterbong are the exact same thing, and a bubbler is a hand pipe that uses water to get the same affect a bong does. A butane lighter just uses the different gas (butane) and are more commonly a "torch"-like jet of flame. Butane lighters are generally refillable too. There are benefits to both. If anyones familiar with salvia, i believe a butane lighter is preferred when lighting that, because it requires a steady, very hot flame kept on it to get best results.

i do see one good question in there...  1/8 is an eigth of an ounce, or about 3.5 grams.  an ounce, then, is about 28 grams.  you'd think we'd go metric after a few botched space missions, but nooo.... :shake:

peace,

I've the same problem with some words. Words for different weed qualities for example...

A google search or using the erowid Drug Slang & Terminology Vault helps for me most of the time.
