ok about 3 of my B+ cubes that are around 1 inch tall seem to have "popped" and the heads have tured into maycella balls the size of a dime

like stems with white balls on the end

what the hell happened to them i have never read about this?

the rest are progressing normally

the humidity was too high so the mycilium started growing out of the mushroom it happens a lot, i just lightly brush the cap and it usually just whisps away, try not to bruise em tho

knock is a violent word, if u fuck with the mushroom too much it will abort, just use the pad of ur finger to see if the mycilium will lightly come off, for my dawg it usually comes off pretty easily

I think his caps are splitting, fellas. I had a mutant GT back in amsterdam that did that - fucking thing looked like penis envy, then split open on the top while growing. After drying, it looked just like me beast - hole and everything. Needless to say, I didn't eat that one.

at this stage they look all mutated?!?!?! i dunno what went wrong
i think the caps have opened up and the veils ripped but.... they are so small
and i dunked bafore i cased

what went wrong? can this high humidity do all these problems?

im confused, it looks as if the veils have opened, but they are so puny!!!! not to mention 20% are aborts and i dunno what that mutant knot of stems n mycella is in the middle there

they have been in the fruiting chanber for 1 week
do i harvest these?
what do i do to make them grow like they are supposed to  :oogle:

Oooooh you cased and had 93 humid you want 90 or LESS sometimes those casings on the inside are wet enough.

yea i just changed my humidification method today after i woke up and saw them

so is the cause of their "mutantness" from too much humidity?

and can i resume them as normal if i simply lower my humidity?

yes, optimal humidity for casings after pinning, is 85-90%
it also looks like the substrate is kinda shallow, i wouldn't expect them to get vary big .

I would comment on the homophobia, but what the fuck happened to this poor guy? I have never seen anything like that in my life. Whats up with the one with the white cap?

hell no !
that white stuff is mycelium .
scrape it off if you want to, but it is no different then the rest of the mushroom, except in appearance, and maybe a little less potent .

Yep, substrate looked too thin to form full mushrooms. I have witnessed this kind of deformation before on nutrient poor substrates*. Did they grow slowly, especially towords the end when they deformed? You probably have enough food for a few mushrooms, but due to the large surface area compared to depth, the amount of mushrooms will not reach maturity. I think of this as a late stage "abortion". The number of pins over this large surface area, cannot be supported by the limited amount of nutrients and water available at one time. High humidity causes a similar effect of mycelium growing on the cap, and the base of the stem. Yours is a much more pronounced type of mutation, malformation, deformation, etc.

Make the substrate a little deeper in the future, with a casing layer at least 1/2" deep. I think that was your major problem.

(*Note: Substrate in experiment was bagged manure from store, no brand name, high in sand and rocks content. This was heavily composted and yeilded poor results. Mushrooms were deformed in the same way as your pictures, with high abort content, skinny stems, and mutated caps. I believe the majority of the nutrients came from the limited amount of spawn (growth through substate was very weak with rhizomorphs only extending 1/2-3/4" through the dirt before turning tometose). Poor example of bagged manure, if this actually had a manure content, it was very low.)
