The effects of a HEAVY downpour
    #1763643 - 07/30/03 07:44 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

there is a field and a lawn in my area that i often go to to look at mushrooms. recently, about 4 days ago we had some heavy heavy rains.A torrential downpour if you will. anyways nothing has grown in the feild or lawn since that time. could the heavy rains have killed all of the supporting mycelia, or is this lack of growth going to explode in a few days, kind of like a natural dunk tek?

also a part of the field's grasses were cut and a lot of the ground disturbed. would this be affecting the field as well?

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

"People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

All of it will affect the field. A downpour won't normally kill mycelia. A good flood might. Morels often like a bit of flooding, so might other mushrooms.

The only way to know for sure what happened is to go check.

Happy mushrooming!
