Cobweb on uncooked rye grain?

I made up 14 jars of rye grain the other day. I put 7 jars in my pressure cooker and forgot about the other 7 now they have what looks like cobweb mold on them. Can I still PC them or are they finished. I have them in the PC now for 2 hours. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

throw them away and remember to PC within 24 hours of soaking next time.

Sterilization will kill all molds and their spores, and they didn't have enough time to digest much of the nutrients. Sterilize them and proceed normally. After all, many bacteria germinate and start multiplying even during soaking, and you kill those in the pressure cooker..

Not all bacterial endospores are killed during the PC process. We're just giving the mushroom mycelium a better chance at growing vs. contams.
OP - PC the jars for 60 minutes & toss in the garden. Grains are cheap, no reason to waste your , agar wedges, etc.

Who said anything about killing bacterial endospores? I just said that the jars are already full of invisible microorganisms before sterilization anyway, doesn't matter if they are bacteria or molds. OP, I assure you the molds will not have the slightest effect on your grows, I've done it a couple of times with less important inoculants when I didn't want to waste more grain, but you can throw them away if you're worried.

Thanks to everyone that responded! I am doing a G2G to these jars with pan cams. They are super fast colonizers, So I am going to give it a shot. With to different responses the only way to know is to try it and see what happens.

Bacteria, not their endospores. Some endospores survive, but most if not all bacteria are killed. Bacterial endospores are tougher than bacteria, and bacteria are tougher than molds. So make your own conclusion on what will survive 2 hours at 120*C.

Thanks I would not even try if I had a slower colonizing spawn to G2G with and after reading the discussion I am curious. And I have 7 more jars that I can expand also.

Good luck! No molds will survive the sterilization process, and if you don't introduce new mold spores during the g2g process, everything will work fine and Panaeolus mycelium will fully colonize the grain without contamination.
