Outdoor cultivation at an apartment complex...
    #1758183 - 07/29/03 01:54 AM (13 years, 4 months ago)

OK, my friend has decided against indoor cultivation (he has done this many times but has since been away from the hobby for some time), so he is going to try an outdoor patch..the only problem is, is that he lives in an apartment. There is a huge plant garden right outside his bedroom window that is covered in large plants (4 ft tall) and a staircase and the location he plans to dig the hole is very indiscrete (sp?). There is plenty of shade but does get a bit of sunlight as well, and there are nightly waterings from the automatic sprinklers. He was thinking that he could dig a hole, put in the colonized grain, cover with some straw and Zoodoo and then recover with the existing soil. He would of course work at night thru his window. Do you think this is a good idea? Also, which of these strains would produce best for an outdoor patch...GT, PR, Hawaiian, Thai? the temps in the garden get up to 90deg at day and down to 70deg at night. Any input/experience is appreciated.

Your idea and conditions seem quite good to me. You could have even better chances if you colonize the end substrate (straw/dung) in filter patch bags and then put it in a hole.
I don't know about the strains - I was succesfull with Golden Teacher & Koh Samui. IMO even strains that are more difficult to grow indoors perform well outside.
