Bulk substrate as spawn?

Hey....A friend of mine is attempting to use a few quart jars of WBS to colonize a 50/50 bulk substrate of straw and horse poo.. His main question is whether or not he could actually (once fully colonized) use the bulk substrate as spawn for another much larger area of straw and horse poo.... He knows the straw and horse poo don't break up and create as many points of contact as WBS does, however, he figures it might be worth a shot depending on what all of the experts think.. He would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Maybe use more -- straw doesn't break up that easily so it's harder to mix well.

Yes it is possible , good way to inoc a huge pile of cow dung . It is best to inoc each successive bulk compost with a 25% fully colonized material to 75% uncolonized material . Good Luck

would the percentages you guys are talking about be by weight or volume? I'm thinking about straw (low density).
