I wanna get the ducati monster diesel. It's so sweet.

Those KTM superduke 690s are the shiet

I like the naked bike style more than crotch rockets, personally, but my buddy's r1 is super fun too. My other buddy has a 600, it's also super fun, but not quite as ballsy as the r1.

Ive ridden several KTM's, I dont like how the power is stacked. Its mostly down low. my DRZ would make power all the way to 10k rpm, and my buddies ktm duke II would fall off at like 78-8200, just run out of steam.

The ducati's are over rated. They are status quo like a BMW, maintenance is a bitch. Even on my Aprilia, which is like the ferrari of bikes, i hated because of mainenance. You had to lean the bitch on its side to do an oil change.

Ive been on ducati's, and yeah, they are nice bikes, but most jap bikes make better power, are more reliable and last longer with fewer issues.

I haven't ridden either of them. I'm basing my wants purely off of specs and looks. I really like how both those bikes look.

I'll keep your words in mind whenever I have enough money saved up, though

The ducati will run you what, 17k? I looked at the street fighter for a while, sat on it at the shop, took it for a test ride. It is not a bike designed for 70+ mph highway driving, it is a joy toy. Most ducati's are. If you get a ducati, get the factory ohlins option, on whatever model you get, its worth it. The street fighter has an S version, and the suspension purchased separately, would cost you 10k alone. So its like you are getting a 10k suspension system and a 8k brand new ducati.

They start at 14k for diesel monster, but I'm sure you could upgrade it to costing 17k. I may need to get into the crotch rocket style, cause I do wanna go 150 on the highway

Got anything in mind that compares to those monsters that isn't a ducati?

Plus, you can do so much to teh DRZ to get good power all over the powerband when you are ready to step it up. They are bullet proof, and you can get pretty much any part you want for them.

Get an 05 DRZ SM, put lowering links on it, get a 300 dollar corbin seat, and the total seat height goes down about 5 inches, which will fit a 27" inseam, and let the person tip toe with both feet at stops, or one flat foot.

this.  even after a new seat and short shocks or lowering links it'll still be uncomfortable on hills.

Aprilia tuono is nice, or Mille. my room mate has amille for sale in TN, its an 05.

The thing about the ducati's is the also rely on teh rider wearing the right gear to make it aerodynamic, not a lot of wind screen on teh monster, or the street fighter. The Aprilia's are right up there in par, with looks, specs and ridability that ducati has. If your flavor is ducati, that means you dont like what everyone else has. Aprilia is that, and IMHO, they are better bikes. WHens the last time you saw Ducati win a 1000cc class? APrilia has smashed it for several years in a row with the mille.

One bike I personally regret selling, was my Aprilia Futura. It was basically the mille, with a sport touring setup on it. 1000cc v-twin power is totally different than the inline 4's now. And the ducati does have the v-twin like aprilia. Meaty, hollow growl, like a muscle car.

I'll give you, that for a street fighter, it looks good, but you killed every single aerodynamic function of the R6. You pay a lot for the technology to design the fairings and scoops and curves. After you chop a bike like this, you nolonger have a track bike that will compete with times, but throw a 50 tooth rear sprocket on it and wheelie the shit out of it.

My days of riding fast are gone behind me, I still enjoy the odd squirt but I love streetfighters. I'm not a hooligan, I don't wheelie, I liked the zx but got sick of it being like every other bike on the road, so I decided to do something different. Besides all the fairings were cracked and shitty anyways, I like it much better like this... and I'll like it a lot more when I've got dirt bars on it. Gonna do some long distance riding when I get my license back

edit: its a zx10, not an r6.

also, I picked the bike up for $7k (AUD), but I got a bit ripped off I think. Bought it from a tropical place, once I got it home and opened it all up it had a bit of calcification in all the electronics, but its all fixed up sweet now

You can talk about it if you want, but I built the things for 4 years of my life. if you shorten the shocks and get lowering links, you will kill the rake and trail of the bike through a turn, and it wont perform well there, but you can make a DRZ fit a pretty small person. My girlfriend could ride mine, it was lowered 3" from factory. She was only 5'8"

You never know unless you go. And I have been there. Theorize if you want, I'm talking real world application that I used to earn money with for 4 years of my life on a specific bike, which was the DRZ.

Ive done everything to them you can imagine. Big bore, strokers, turbo, lower, higher, take the engine out and put it in a go cart. snorkle it so it runs underwater. ive done everything you can imagine to a DRZ, except have sex with it. I have molested a few badly..

My bad, a jap bike is a jap bike to me. All the classes run about the same in their league, and they are rock solid. Never seen a ZX in grey like the Yami's were. Nice copy from yami to kawi. Funny how they just switch colors between brands. Yami is gonna be red white and blue I think, like the 70's ones.

It's not grey, it's matt black. I was kinda torn up between what superbike to get but went with the zx for comfort. r1 killed me, cbr was much the same, although the new model is pretty decent. the gsxr is a fucking pain for me, I'm pretty lanky. the zx has been the most comfortable so far, but in the end if im putting bars on it it doesnt matter much anyway

a guy at work has offered to throw a turbo on it for me in exchange for some 'shrubberies' :P

i dont know if im game

ok great, I never suggested otherwise.

again, that's awesome. I'm not theorizing, I personally have a low seat on my gs and short shocks which are perfect for me at 5'8" I'm just saying 5'6" seems like it would be borderline sketchy even after those improvements, especially on hills.

Damn, bro, that's a kickass 'fighter! And who gives a shit about the aerodynamics of the girlyboy plastics, I'll bet you sold them on and bought some actual useful parts.

I've got a couple of oil-cooled gixxers, an '85 750 and an '89 1100, both streetfighters. I'll try and find some pics...

I've also bought Streetfighters Magazine every month for the last 15 years. You should send some pics of your bike to them, I'm sure it would at least make the Fanmail page.

im 5'8'' 160 and i can ride anything other than a goldwing or road king comfortably. look into an old Honda CB series. I have a cb750 and its a blast. plus you can change things here and there along the way if you so choose. look at any CB750, XS650, KZ550 any of these are cheap practical reliable learning bikes.
