Beautiful pics, really! Congratulations!
Regarding my L. sulphureus bag, I still can't check because I'm still not at home. But I received this pic few minutes ago; the "main" blob could be aborted (but I'm not sure), but the bag is fruiting also from the others cuts I made. So the filter patch is not the pinning trigger
Sorry for the bad quality pic

I received these pics yesterday. Looks like fruitbodies are forming as soon as mycelium reaches fresh air, even in the upper part of the bag. I'm planning to prepare a cased bag and see what will happen. Again sorry for the bad quality, I'll take better ones on next saturday

They taste so good, but ai think I'm intolerant to them if I take them raw. My tongue gets numb.
Anyone know something about them? i heard that a lot of people are like me.

Cook it and see how you do, they're really not safe to eat raw (as with most wild edible mushrooms, wanna get deathy sick? eat a morel raw. I did it once. ONCE. I spent days shitting and vomiting. It wasn't much fun.)
http://blog.mycology.cornell.edu/2006/10/31/eating-the-chicken-of-the-woods/ has some interesting notes on the species and locales for it.

Yeah I know that eating raw wild mushrooms is not something we should do. But I didn't eat it, just tasted then spitted a tiny part, to help identify. My tongue went numb for the next 2 hours.
But coocked, no problem. They taste really good, it's too bad that I didn't find any in the last summers.

Yeah, I'm planning on trying hard to find some this summer, we used to find tons and my uncle says he knows where some monstrous hen and chicken of the woods mushrooms grow still... think I'm going to try to get some this year for both eating and cloning onto agar and eventually growing out if possible. I personally found this thread really exciting! I think after I get a stable culture I might try some cardboard spawning and then if that goes well plug spawn for outdoor grows as well as trying an indoor grow or two.

Here are some pics taken today. The patch blob aborted, so I removed it. The others are still growing, but very slowly. That's probably because temperatures in my grow room are too low for this species (15°-17°). I'll re-try to grow this on this summer, I guess

Here's a recent paper on fruiting L sulphurus which might interest readers of this thread. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23229287
For some strains, ~100% fruiting induction within 6 days. Going to try it out soon.

Did those blobs ever get bigger. They are differentiated enough for me to call them fruits as they have a top surface that looks different from lighter bottom surface but it would be nice to see them shelf out a bit more. Any updates?

Very interesting paper. Thank you for sharing.
I am sure that I did cold shock one block, but I will try this again.

THANK YOU SO MUCH THAT IS EXCITING! Even if I can't get my strain(s) to fruit, I will go hunting hard this fall. I cloned off of this guy last fall while I was still a mega-noob. I made an LC and did not save any of the plates. So I frantically tried to get some living mycelium out of the LC recently after my fruiting attempt failed this winter. Fortunately I was able to rescue some myc that was comtaminated with I'm guessing yeast. I turned into that foamy texture the authors mention after about a month in the mason jar 'petri' dish.
I cloned it to about 8 plates in my proper setup. Some funny things I noticed were that like the clones directly from the fruit, the plates were all different colors, from almost white to bright orange. Also, subsequent transfers to MEYA are very slow growing, which is why my latest sleeve of plates for everything has been DFA. Oh, and so far agar transfers are slowww going, I had good luck last time with mycelium water. I can post pics of said plates later if anyone is interested.

Can anyone please chime in with a link to a recent grow? I've seen a few but want to see if anyone has some new updates, I'm hoping to contribute to getting this one figured out..
