Heres a couple more shots of (ksss) pins loving the polymer crystals. Note: any green you see is light passing through the green container I'm using and reflecting off the crystals

Hope these help

I wouldn't say your pins are necessarily loving the polymer crystals. Every time somebody comes around spouting the use of this stuff the results are always less than spectacular. I don't know why people keep trying. Your casing looks way too wet and your pin set is lacking because of it. The polymer crystals are probably only exacerbating the situation.

I don't want to sound petty like "no man it isn't too wet just a shitty cell phone camera... Pics for grow log.. firsts pins..". Instead I ask to put any criticism to the test, send me a SASE and you get a free 15ml bag, all I ask is that you actually try the mix - even if you only play with it and don't case anything - just post your results here, PM me for the addy man I think you will be impressed.

I woke up to these today, I'll try to post a picture once a day of this one tub

Right on, man. I'll admit, I haven't used the crystals myself, but I have applied many a casing layer. Try not laying it on so thick. That last photo looks better.

Yes

None that I have found, but without proper testing I could be sure, again not that I have noticed, basically I started exploring the idea when I got into sterile (as in cleanliness not reproductivity) mushroom culture (for sterile printing) but wanted a way to grow then in something larger than a gallon mason jars, trich loves peat, but I hate trich, so me and peat don't see eye to eye. With that I wanted a casing material that had no possibility of supporting life for contams but not only retained moisture but have the ability to visually account for its moisture content (peat is dark wet, and lighter when dry) in this case by reducing in mass (shrinking). So far I like it, I get really clean prints for bulk grows, stays hydrated, no pasteurization..

About 5 minutes ago:

Some history: KSSS MS inoculated (1) jar 10/31, transfered to (12) jars, then expanded by 10 (120 total jars), spawned for ~12 days consolidated for 7, 48-72hrs after casing I patched and initiated pinning. Temps 70/82°f@peak 12/12 spawn material: whole oats. Substrate material: 60%hpoo 20%mixed straws/stalks (shredded corn and molasses) 20%vermiculite gypsum @2:1 4" depth

Most of the growth happened over night, the cap splitting was due to high temps (87°f peak) and causing the humidifier in the room to dry out, it's a wick type and it's reservoir hasn't been modded. Taken about five minutes ago:

Sorry I didn't get to upload yesterday, heres a shot of the second tub last night, right before I harvested, the clusters were sooo dense it was impossible not to fuck up the substrate

And a shot of the greenhouse tray:

VERY NICE!!  Could we get a picture of a fruit/print next to a bic lighter or other object that will give an easy sense of scale?
