P,O. box question

I looked around, but couldn't find the specific answer I need, so I was wondering if any of you had a quick answer for me. I am wanting to get a P.O. box to order legal items such as HBWR, salvia, kratom, etc. I'm okay giving ID and the like, it's just that they ask for an address and I was wondering if that is just for verification purposes or not, because I don't want anything sent in the mail to my house about my getting a P.O. box. Unfortunately, I still live with the 'rents and in the past they have opened my mail. They are pretty close-minded and them finding it could result in other troubles. Thanks.

Yes, it's just for verification. In fact, i got my PO box for free because mail does not get delivered to this address.

Alright, just to make sure, no confirmation mail to my house? And thanks.

My 2 cents is to get non-USPS box if possible (UPS, Mailboxes, etc, something like that) simply b/c a standard USPS P.O. box won't accept FedEx, UPS, Airborne Express, or DHL shipments. This generally turns out to be a royal pain in the ass, because many vendors, including as Amazon, people on ebay, and others, use non-USPS shipping services. The USPS will decline packages and return them to sender.
Another nice perk is that you can call these 3rd party mailbox providers and ask if you've got a delivery/check/letter that you've been waiting for. Try and call a USPS branch and you'll quickly get lost in their fuck-you voice response system, where all choices lead you to the same place: hanging up in frustration.

I live in a town about the size of 15,000, odd chance I could find a non-USPS here, and if so, where?

Unfortunately in many places a PMB is much more expensive than a PO Box.

If you're over the age of 18 it's illegal for them to open your mail. Federal offence and all that.

Google for a UPS store or Mailboxes, etc. in your town.
Failing that, simply ask at the post office if there's a place that rents boxes. Tell them that you can't use a PO box b/c you'll be getting FedEx shipments and stuff from Amazon.
@Naum: Nice avatar!!! Did you find those?

yw, but I'm speaking from a practical perspective. Depending on what you're receiving, don't forget that different laws apply to packages shipped via USPS and private carriers.
As I understand it (and I'm admittedly out of my depth here), a warrant is required to search USPS packages, but no warrant is required for private carrier (FedEx, UPS, etc.)

yeah, i'm not too worried seeing as how I won't be doing anything illegal with it, just need my privacy. Do you suppose there are any vendors (kratom, hbwr, salvia) out there that ship USPS, or is it mostly private with those type of deals?

I've heard that UPS can open suspicious packages without a search warrant, would this in any way apply to packages received at a UPS store with delivered packs?

Good question. If a vendor ships via USPS to a box in a UPS store, does the store have the legal right to open it without a warrant? If they do open, do they have to inform the box owner?

Wow. What a bunch of shit. So I guess the UPS store isn't a very prime spot for packs to be sent.

Mailing things via UPS is very different from getting mail there. They can't open your mail. If you receive a package via UPS, they could open it. But no one sends drugs via UPS anyway (hopefully).
