N. Korea warns of war with US.............again
    #1750256 - 07/26/03 05:52 AM (20 years, 8 months ago)

Yahoo News

When are they going to stop running their mouths and blow our asses up?

Quote:

SEOUL, South Korea - The Korean War ended 50 years ago, yet tensions
remain high amid suspicion that North Korea (news - web sites) is
developing nuclear weapons. In a reminder of uneasiness along the world's
most heavily armed border, the communist country Saturday warned of a
new war.

The warning came ahead of the 50th anniversary
Sunday of the armistice that ended the 1950-53
armed conflict on the world's last remaining Cold
War frontier.

"The arrogant and outrageous moves of the U.S.
imperialists to stifle the DPRK by force are being
carried into extremes," North Korea's army Chief
of the General Staff Kim Yong Chun said.

North Korea "will promptly beat back any precision strike, surgical
operation-style strike and pre-emptive nuclear attack with the powerful war
deterrent force," Kim said.

U.S. officials believe North Korea already has one or two nuclear bombs,
and has programs that can build several more atomic bombs within in a
matter of months.

The United States and its allies want North Korea to end such programs.

Pyongyang, however, accuses Washington of inciting the dispute to use as
an excuse for an invasion. Washington wants a diplomatic solution, but has
not ruled out military options.

"A diplomatic solution is imperative," said United Nations (news - web sites)
Secretary-General Kofi Annan (news - web sites) in a statement released
Saturday to mark the upcoming anniversary. "It is also a realistic
possibility."

Korean War veterans echoed the U.N. chief's hopes for a peaceful resolution
to avoid another war on the divided Korean Peninsula.

"Pray to God it doesn't happen again," said Benjamin Whitchurch, a British
war veteran. "Because the war as we knew it in the 50s has advanced so
many times with all the different destruction bombs ... it would be an
annihilation."

Whitchurch and about 70 other British veterans attended a commemorative
ceremony at a former battlefield in South Korea (news - web sites) near the
mine-laden border with North Korea. Britain fought as a member of the
16-nation U.N. force against China- and Soviet-backed North Korea.

Hopes of talks to deal with the North Korean nuclear crisis have been rising
in South Korea in recent weeks. South Korean officials have expressed
optimism that the United States, North Korea and China will meet in Beijing
soon, possibly next month, to discuss the nuclear standoff.

The United States considers North Korea's nuclear ambitions a regional
threat and insists on multilateral talks involving South Korea, Japan, China
and possibly Russia.

North Korea wants a one-on-one meeting with the United States.

A Japanese newspaper reported Saturday that North Korea has threatened
to conduct a nuclear test if the United States does not respond positively in
their dialogue to resolve the dispute.

The warning was given during unofficial contacts between a North Korean
official and U.S. envoy Jack Pritchard in New York earlier this month, the
Asahi Shimbun newspaper reported, quoting unidentified Japanese and
North Korean sources.

The nuclear dispute flared in October, when U.S. officials said North Korea
admitted having a secret nuclear program in violation of international
agreements.

North Korea won't nuke anyone. That's not the problem. Communist leaders have no respect for human life in general, but they usually have a lot of respect for their personal asses, and they know that they have no chance to survive a nuclear retaliation. They are not suicidal.

And North Korea hasn't even performed non-nuclear terrorist attacks against innocent civilians since 1987.

The real problem starts when they start selling their atomic bombs to people like Muammar Qaddafi or Hassan Nasrallah.

I don't know. Perhaps he was, but you could probably say the same about Stalin. It doesn't make Qaddafi any less dangerous in any case.

They do? Which ones?

I thought the main life-support they got was from the U.S. plus South Korea, Japan and the E.U.

Do they get aid from Cuba, China and Zimbabwe also? I can't think of any other communist countries that haven't turned around or collapsed yet.

China.

Do we give them foreign aid? I wouldnt think we would. I'm pretty sure S korea doesnt, theyre still at war after all...

I dunno about the other nations. I feel like China would be more apt to defend n korea against 'american imperialism', at least at first.

They're just talking shit though, imo. They'd like to hope their threats would coerce us into giving them a nice couple billion dollar check and all that. Wont happen, though. Those bastards will funnel it right back into their military/nuke programs, and our administration knows it.

Nah, theyre just blowing smoke. If it really comes to a head we'll just drop some bombs on em and hopefully put them in their place.

Last week Qaddafi's son made a public pledge to be a good friend to the United States. Funny how sobering it can be having an armored division parked in your neighborhood.

Bill Clinton taught North Korea a real lesson, that bluff can be profitable. I don't think Kim understands that Bush is unlikely to play along. I would hate to see a pissing contest between the US and China but Kim may force the issue.

I wish North Korea would either bomb us or be quiet. I'm sick of reading headlines reading "North Korea threatens US".

I wonder if Bush realizes that defacing an American flag is illegal.

I wonder if he even realizes he's defacing it.

I wonder if he realizes . . . anything.

The above is an extract from my fictional novel, "The random postings of Edame".

In the beginning was the word. And man could not handle the word, and the hearing of the word, and he asked God to take away his ears so that he might live in peace without having to hear words which might upset his equinamity or corrupt the unblemished purity of his conscience.

And God, hearing this desperate plea from His creation, wrinkled His mighty brow for a moment and then leaned down toward man, beckoning that he should come close so as to hear all that was about to be revealed to him.

"Fuck you," He whispered, and frowned upon the pathetic supplicant before retreating to His heavens.

Illegal where? It may be illegal in some states, I don't know. But it's not illegal everywhere in america.

"Although the U.S. Supreme Court has twice invalidated state flag laws, 47 states still have on the books laws, many modeled after the Uniform Flag Law of 1917, that prohibit the desecration of the flag or its use for advertising and publicity purposes."

List of State Laws

Unless he was in one of the three states that do not have flag laws, he was committing what most states consider a misdemeanor (see the list for a state-by-state breakdown).

Personally, I believe people should have the right to burn and/or otherwise mutilate the flag under First Amendment protection. Of course, when long-haired radicals mutilate the US flag the intended message is clear. In Bush's case, he must have the mistaken notion that since he is the president, he and the nation are one and the same, i.e., "L'etat, c'est moi", and therefore he has the right to deface the flag with his John Hancock. If that's the message he wants to put across, I would defend his right to do so: no reason for me to stop him from betraying his complete misunderstanding of the function of the executive branch of government and making a jackass of himself, as usual.

immaculate: China.

-China is not communist, they are totalitarian/market socialist. And anyways, it doesnt matter if North Korea can hit the us with bombs or not, if north korea hits Tokyo with a missile the world economy will crash.

As of now, North Korea can do what ever it wants, because a war in North East Asia will most definitly fuck up China's economy (the 3rd largest in the world) and China's economy is very fragile, and once again....if China's economy gets fucked up, the world economy will crash.
