How sterile do you have to be when you birth?
    #1749871 - 07/26/03 01:58 AM (14 years, 9 months ago)

Because I don't think my kitten was as careful as she should have been, silly thing. I think it was within reason...but as this was the first time birthing her cakes she was a little clumsy.

I always say better safe then sorry but like jimcon202000 said once a cake is 100% colonized it can fight off most contams but I would still be as clean as you can just to be on the safe side.

clean your hands with some hand sanitizer and spray the air with Oust or Lysol before opening the jars, and make sure the surfaces that will come in contact with the cakes are clean and sterile. Better safe than dissapointing

I'm new, 1 week into my first grow so I dont consider my 2 cents to be worthy yet but just to let you know. Any time I handle my jars or anything else at my work area, I use hand sanitizing gel just to be on the safe side. I think its better to be to careful than not careful enough! When I birth my cake I plan to wear latex gloves rinsed with alcohol. They say fully colonized cakes are allmost contam proof, but if you have my luck, you better be safe than sorry!
