I'm so glad this thread came up, I was looking for somewhere to share this pretty sweet find. Texas Mushrooms: A Field Guide by S. Metzler & V. Metzler is going back into print next month and it's already up for pre-order on a couple of websites (I'm sure you guys can figure out which ). Just wanted to let you guys know that it's quite the bargain at the pre-order price since I tried to hunt down this book a couple of months ago and found it going for around $60-$70.
Here's some more info from the publisher.

SentientNoetic said: How rare are Reishi in the wild? Some of the stuff I find published online make it sound like finding a Reishi is like finding a dinosaur egg. In the pasture where I train my dog about 1/3 of the oak tress have these little guys growing on them. and around the root zone. I don't know anything about culturing Reishi specifically but i'd be glad to send a couple specimens to anybody interested in trying to cultivate.
I find them very commonly here in houston in wooded areas especially but also off of logs. I have found some pretty huge ones too.
by the way you guys, get out there right now. i just found over 1000 cinctulus in 1 hour. literally couldnt take a step without finding a ton. i didnt even scratch the surface of the patches i normally check. i am about to brew up 200, my highest cinctulus dose yet. send me vibes. dosing around 4 pm

here is a habitat picture. sorry it sucks, i dont have a fancy camera

they are still out there in overwhelming abundance occupying the sorts of habitats pictured. green grass that has probably probably been re-planted in the last few years that is relatively low compared to the surrounding areas and isn't covered by shade throughout the day are the optimal areas. would love to see some fellow texans participate. peace to all. let me know if you desire further information/help

Anybody wanna ID the last one? It was found growing out of the base of a mulched/fertilized rose bush. One of these days I'll find some cubes for ya'll.
imo, just as good! Nice ones.

Yes, they were bruising blue/green. You can see it in the sixth shot.
