Official Texas Mushroom hunter's thread *2013* 2

I have a good feeling about 2013 for Houston mushroom hunting. Picture below is about 1/4 of the amount of P. Cinctulus I found while walking my dog yesterday. The other 3/4 were consumed wet. I had a surprisingly strong trip for P. Cinctulus, but then again I probably consumed over 125 mushrooms. I'm surprised they are popping up in such numbers considering how cold it's been, but hey, I'm not complaining. I literally don't even have to leave my neighborhood to find magic mushrooms in abundance, and that is cool with me.

Good luck to all my fellow Texas mushroom hunters in 2013!

took my dog for another walk, found about 75 more. I'm surprised to see how many are coming up in lawns that don't seem particularly well-kept. Normally I only see them in the greenest of lawns. Almost 2 years ago I scattered spores throughout the good-looking lawns in my area, perhaps I am finally seeing the fruits of my labor. Pun intended.

Mother of god. Found about 300 more in an upscale neighborhood close by... just stopped picking them, seemed silly to take any more. While I was picking them a homeowner came outside, I thought she was going to tell me to get off of her property. Instead she handed me paper lunchsack and said, "Looks like too many to hold in your hands" the mushrooms gods have smiled on me this day

That is so funny. I love hearing stories like that. It makes me wonder if they have any idea what they are. Really, what goes through the mind of a stranger who sees some person picking a patch of mushrooms?
Best luck Ive had with people is them threatening to call the cops on me for trespassing... strange, as I absolutely minimally step off of public property in my hunts. Im a good talker so its been NBD though.
Awesome finds!

I know how it is. One of the reasons I moved out of Arizona was that I missed being able to forage for shroomiez. I find it more rewarding than growing

I doubt many- if any- grow out that way. I've only driven through El Paso, but it's a lot more like New Mexico than it is like Houston or Austin. In other words, it's a desert. Deserts aren't conducive to fungus growth. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Even here in Houston we only find shrooms after a good rain, and then only in the moister areas.

peyote only grows in two texas counties as far as I know, and you have to have a permit to look for them. not to mention it's unethical. peyote is an becoming very rare and the native american church uses them. There is always san pedro for those of us who like mescaline. There probably aren't many cubes out right now because of the temperature, but you can count on me hunting them come april-september. P. Cinctulus are easy to hunt- I don't really even have to go anywhere. they're weak but when you find them in great number, it's whatever- there's always tea. I enjoy brewing up 100 cinctulus and drinking it. feels about like 2-3 grams of field cubes

All of these were found in a section of well-fertilized grass approximately 3 yards squared

I vote we rename this thread "Morrowasted shows us his P. Cinctulus finds"
Lucky SOB, I've seen very few actives out here in central TX Maybe it has something to do with this rumor I've heard of anti-fungal additives in horse and cow feed

LOL I'm sure as the year progresses other Texans will chime in with their cube finds. I'm just trying to be encouraging to my fellow Houston shroomerites
