dehydrated mycelium(PICTURE)

so i dropped some MS on agar,

mycelium grew on it, and now its getting a rather dehydrated look,


any ideas on what's going on?

The dish is not sealed humidity is escaping. If you plan on long term storage of a plate, or anything more than a week, you need to seal it with tape.

ive made agar before this same way.


they are in fact not taped, but inside a ziplock.

if it's drying out in any way there, humidity is escaping somewhere.
If it's actually not drying out than I wouldn't worry about it.
Can you get a picture together?

Looking at that picture, unless I'm reading it totally wrong, all I see is bacteria.

Definitely contaminated, looks like bacteria and maybe some type of mold in the bottom right corner...

LME-AgarAgar when not mixed properly usually leaves those.

I had a contam once that looked like that... white plaster mold I think..
