Well so far only one jar out of all of them show growth which leads me to believe the spores I received were damaged during transit. It's mighty cold out there. going to wait it out a little bit and see what happens. If anything I'll reorder and try again.

Alright, ended up tossing all of the LC's even the controls. Bad set of spores. Temperature was just fine, and even wated to see if any contams would surface. Nothing. Tested the LC'control jars, introduced contams and within days I had growth under same conditions. Definite bust for now. Will retry with an agar sample next time.

I think its kind of funny what you're doing, but you might not be looking in the wrong direction. I have read about fungal and mammalian sex hormones have something in common.

Yeah with MS I have never had consistent results, thats why I rarely innc directly to a substrate. I honestly rather go through the extra effort of making a LC especially with pan cyan's. I don't like questioning whether the spores are good or not. LC will tell you within 2-3 days.
But this definitely isn't going to be my last attempt at this experiment. Might try some sodium metabisulfite to sterilize. that'll be a fun experiment.
